Treehouse Museum

McKenzie usually goes to summer school for a week during the summer and to end the week they go on a field trip to the Treehouse Museum. Well this year at the last minute the school district cancelled it so we decided to go anyways! I'm so glad we did. It's such a fun place! They have a big room with a map of Utah on the floor and you press this button for a clue and have to try to find whatever the clues were about. There are lakes, the state bird, historical buildings and even the coldest spot ever recorded right by where we live. Can you believe in 1985 at Peter Sinks in Logan Canyon it was -69°. That's the 2nd coldest temperature ever recorded in the continental United States. BRRRR!!!!!
It would take me all day to post everything they have there but here are a few of the things the girls enjoyed most. They had a whole section about the human body. Brooklyn checked out some x-rays.
McKenzie discovered what our insides look like.
Then we moved on to the music room.
And we got to see a replica of the oval office. Here's President McKenzie.
And President Brooklyn.
They also had clothes so you could dress up like George and Martha Washington.
But perhaps their favorite part was the knights castle and the dress up stuff. They spent the most of their time here trying on all the outfits and "putting on shows." It has a real stage curtain and one of them would dress up and the other would introduce them and draw back the curtain.
It's definitely a place I'd recommend and like to go back to. Just give yourself lots of time, there's so much to see and do!!!

My cousin Katie had a BBQ for both her and her husband Greg's families. We had such a great time!

July 4th

All dressed up in their festive red, white and blue.
We even painted their toes to be festive. :)
We started off the day by going to the parade in Hyrum.
Brooklyn
McKenzie
Waiting for Candy!!!
Savanah
Serenity (she was mad because she'd just got hit in the head with a piece of candy)
Haevyn
Then we headed to my mom's for her birthday! I made cupcakes - red, white and blue of course!
And McKenzie bought her own special gift for Meahma. She was so excited to give it to her!
We hung out, waiting for it to get dark so we could do some fireworks and took some pictures in front of the pretty sunset. Too bad you can't see it in this one!
Love my Mom and Dad!!!
This was our grand finale. Highlight of the boys' weekend!
It was great! They all were! Gotta love that we can finally do some "good" fireworks in Utah!

McKenzie's 7th Birthday

Can You believe it? 7 years old!?!?! Since her very first birthday we've done some sort of party outside where the kids could play in the water and even though I had thought up lots of fun party themes she just wasn't interested unless we could do it and play in the water so this year ended up being no different. She chose to do a luau theme like last year. We had all sorts of fun water activities. Of course we had a pool.
We had a slip and slide.
And water balloons. They thought it would be fun to get dad. :)
There was also a sprinkler under the trampoline.
And don't forget the beach balls. ;)
And of course what's a party without cake and presents!
We gave her tickets to the upcoming Taylor Swift concert. I'm not sure she knew what to think!
Of course she was gonna need a t-shirt to wear to the concert.
She also got some much desired gifts. A frog pillow pet.
An earring hanger.
And a Barbie bride.
Because she's growing up (and because I'm not ready for her to be that big yet) she wanted to invite some friends to her party. Since our family includes plenty of people already we decided to have a 2nd (and much smaller) party on the day of her birthday with just a couple of close friends. We did all the same activities.
Then had ice cream and cupcakes that McKenzie had decorated earlier that day.
Love these girls!
Thanks so much to everyone who came to celebrate with us! We love you all!
